Plum Brook Station NASA Reactor Facility Decommissioning Using Concrete Shaving Technology

Location

Sandusky, OH

Client

NASA, MOTA Corporation

Challenge

This decommissioning project at the Plum Brook Station NASA Reactor facility needed concrete shavers capable of removing the contaminated surface, to a required depth, from straight and curved walls in the hot cells and reactor building rooms.

We supported MOTA Corporation by supplying two MWS300 wall shavers and deployment frames custom designed and fabricated in our Machine Shop.

Solution

Outcome

Our concrete shaving technology successfully removed the contaminated concrete from the walls, and two years later we returned to support Claus Construction on a similar concrete shaving job.
