LCRA Chimney Foundation Modification

We core drilled horizontal holes 45 feet in length intersecting in the middle of the foundation. The foundation was cut into four quadrants 7 feet from the top of the foundation using multiple diamond wire saws running simultaneously.
The concrete section released from the remaining foundation weighed 3,340 tons. After the separation cuts were made, robotic hammers were used to break the 1,650 yards of concrete into pieces sized for disposal. To isolate and protect piles, we used 20” diamond core bits to drill 340 18 inch piles to a depth of 2 feet. After successful separation, the remaining 2 feet of concrete was removed leaving the piles intact and undisturbed.
